About Us

We want more bees!

The Bee Team has a simple goal: build and install as many mason bee houses and habitats as possible. We install these habitats in settings where bees will hopefully choose to live year after year. Our ideal is that these habitats will act as starting spots that bees will migrate out from.

Mason Bees

The main bee of focus is in the mason bee. The mason bee is a group of bee species that do not live in traditional colonies like the honey bee. Instead, as the name implies, they nest in holes which they fill with mud. Yes, it does look like a house fly!

Why Mason Bees?

Mason bees are native to Oregon, unlike the honey bee. These species are also considerably more effective at pollinating than most other bee species. Mason bees are non-aggressive and will not attack unless their life depends on it.
